Write for us
We welcome pitches that help readers notice and understand a specific feature of western landscapes, from the shape of a route to the pattern of working land.
What to propose
Send a focused idea with a working title, the central question, the reader it serves and a short note on the material you would use. Strong proposals make one subject legible rather than promising a broad survey of the West.
A good fit
We look for clear explanations, careful distinctions between observation and inference, and details that help a reader see a place differently. Avoid unsupported claims, promotional copy and stories that require professional, official or local-rule advice to act on.
Sending a proposal
Proposals are sent through the Contact page. Choose the editorial question option and include enough detail for us to understand the idea. A proposal is not a promise of publication, and we may ask for a narrower focus.
